An Albanese Labor Government will reverse the Morrison Liberal’s $83.7 million cut to the ABC to save regional jobs, protect critical emergency broadcasting and support local news and content.

ABC emergency coverage saved lives in Victoria during the summer bushfires and staff came off leave to ensure Australians were kept informed. Now 250 dedicated ABC staff face the sack as a result of Scott Morrison’s cuts.

Labor Leader Anthony Albanese made the announcement this week with Labor candidate for Eden-Monaro Kristy McBain acknowledging locals who depended on the ABC’s life-saving information during this year’s horrific fire season.

The ABC has worked tirelessly to support regional communities across Australia, particularly through drought, bushfires and now coronavirus.

As a Senator for Victoria I would like to thank the hardworking ABC staff serving our region for their dedication.
