Anniversary messages
Congratulatory messages are notes of personal congratulations from His Majesty The King, the Governor-General or the Prime Minister. A message can be arranged for any Australian citizen celebrating a special birthday or wedding anniversary.
Australians can receive a message from His Majesty The King on their 60th wedding anniverary and every fifth year after, and on their 100th birthday and every fifth year after.
They can also receive a message from the Governor-General on their 50th wedding anniversary and every year after, and on their 100th birthday and every year after.
Australians can also receive a message from the Prime Minister on their 50th wedding anniversary and every year after, and on their 90th birthday and every year after.
To arrange an anniversary message, follow these steps
I have provided a handy checklist in the FAQs at the bottom of this page to assist you make your request.
Step 1: You will need to provide supporting documentation to confirm the details of the anniversary.
Gather supporting documentation for the relevant birthday or wedding anniversary. The supporting documents need to clearly state the full name or names of those celebrating and the date of the anniversary.
Supporting documentation can include copies of birth certificates, passports or marriage certificates, or a statutory declaration with the relevant names and anniversary details. Statutory declaration forms are availabe at any post office, or online from the Attorney-General’s Department.
Step 2: Contact Senator Ciccone at Senator.Ciccone@aph.gov.au providing details and supporting documentation for your request.
Congratulatory messages can be delivered directly to the recipient or, if you’d like it to be a surprise, to a care-of address.
To give the message the best chance of arriving on time, you should arrange it no later than two months before the date of the wedding anniversary or birthday.
If you are unable to submit the request this early, we will do our best to process the request in time. However delivery by the anniversary or birthday can not be guaranteed.
Flags and Nationhood Material
We can supply Victorian community groups with official national flags; Australian, Aboriginal or Torres Strait Island. We can also supply nationhood materials, like a copy of the Australian Constitution or an official portrait of His Majesty The King.
